The core of neutral silicone sealant used for solar panels is single component, neutral dealcoholization curing, UV/weather resistance, strong adhesion to aluminum/glass/backplate, and insulation; The key to choosing glue is to consider weather resistance level, displacement ability, UL/TUV certification, and curing type. Do not use acidic glue or ordinary glass glue. Below, we will explain the core features, selection points, mainstream models, construction and pit avoidance.
1、 Core features (why must it be used)
Solar panels exposed to outdoor sunlight for 20 years are required to have a non cracking, non peeling, non-conductive, and non corrosive adhesive layer
✅ Single component neutral curing: room temperature moisture curing, non corrosive (safe for aluminum frames, glass, and backboards), no pungent odor; Different from acidic adhesives (which corrode metals and have a strong odor).
✅ Weather resistant/UV resistant: stable at -50 ℃ to+150 ℃, resistant to UV/ozone/rainwater, and will not crack for 20 years.
✅ Strong adhesion: No need for primer, adhesive aluminum, tempered glass, TPT backboard, plastic frame, displacement resistance ± 35%.
✅ Electrical insulation: high volume resistivity, non-conductive, non leakage, in compliance with photovoltaic safety standards.
✅ Elastic recovery: Moderate modulus, no shedding or cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.
2、 Choose 4 major hard indicators (directly compare parameters)
- Curing type (required)
Priority: Neutral dealcoholization type (such as PV-804, JS-606), curing releases alcohols, non corrosive, and has stable adhesion.
Avoid: neutral oxime type (prone to mold), acidic type (corroding aluminum frames). - Key performance parameters (see test report)
Drying time: 5-15 minutes (25 ℃/50% RH) for easy adjustment.
Hardness: Shore A 40-48 (moderate, too hard is prone to cracking, too soft is prone to deformation).
Displacement capability: ≥ 35 levels (suitable for thermal expansion and contraction).
Temperature resistance: -50 ℃ to+150 ℃ (not brittle in winter and not flowing in summer).
Certification: UL 1581, TUV, IEC 61215 (photovoltaic specific safety certification). - Color and purpose
Black: The best UV resistance, universal frame/junction box, absorbs heat but has the longest lifespan.
White: Good heat dissipation, suitable for backboards/gaps, slightly weaker UV resistance than black.
Transparent: Temporarily sealed, not recommended for long-term outdoor use. - Brand and Packaging
Net content: Standard 300ml/vial, avoid packaging with a shortage of 260-280ml.
Shelf life: 12 months (dry storage below 27 ℃).
Brand: Choose a photovoltaic dedicated line, do not use ordinary door and window glass glue.
