Acidic silicone sealant (commonly known as acidic glass sealant) is a single component, room temperature moisture cured, acetic acid releasing silicone sealant that cures quickly, adheres strongly to glass/aluminum materials, and has good weather resistance, but has a sour taste and corrodes alkaline/metal substrates.
1、 Basic principles and components
Curing method: single component, cross-linked and cured when exposed to moisture in the air, releasing acetic acid (vinegar flavor).

Basic polymer: Polydimethylsiloxane (elastic, weather resistant)
Crosslinking agent: Methyltriacetoxysilane (providing acidic curing)
Filler: Calcium carbonate, white carbon black (to adjust viscosity and strength)
Catalyst: Organic tin (accelerated curing)
Plasticizers: Enhance flexibility
2、 Core features (advantages and disadvantages)
✅ advantage
Extremely fast curing: surface drying takes about 10-30 minutes, complete curing takes 24-48 hours (25 ℃/50% RH)
Strong adhesion: for glass, aluminum alloy, ceramics, ceramic tiles PVC、 Excellent adhesion of wood
High elasticity: displacement capacity of 20-25 levels, adaptable to thermal expansion and contraction
Weather resistance/temperature resistance: -50 ℃~150 ℃ stable, resistant to UV, rainwater, ozone
Waterproof and mildew proof: After solidification, it is dense and impermeable, and the wet area is not easily moldy
Construction friendly: Good thixotropy, no sagging, can be directly glued on the vertical surface
❌ shortcoming
Vinegar sour taste: Construction requires ventilation, disappears after curing
Corrosivity: Strictly prohibited for use on alkaline/reactive metals such as marble, granite, cement, carbon steel, galvanized iron, copper, etc. (which can corrode, whiten, and debond)
Non structural adhesive: only used for sealing/non structural bonding, cannot be used for glass curtain wall structure assembly
Partial non stick plastic: poor adhesion to low surface energy materials such as PP, PE, nylon, etc
3、 Applicable scenarios (recommended)
Doors and Windows: Aluminum Alloy/Plastic Steel Doors and Windows Glass Sealing, Window Frame Filling
Glass engineering: showcase, sunroom, glass partition, fish tank (small)
Kitchen and bathroom: ceramic tile corner, basin, shower room (non stone) sealed
Advertising/Display: Glass display cabinets, lightboxes, sign seals
Other: Ceramics, enamel, oil-free wood, PVC adhesive sealing
4、 Forbidden Scene (Absolutely Not Applicable)
Stone: marble, granite, terrazzo (corroded, yellowed)
Metal: carbon steel, galvanized sheet, copper, stainless steel (long-term corrosion)
Cement/concrete: Alkaline substrates can corrode and bond failure
Structural glass assembly: Neutral structural adhesive must be used
Damp and enclosed space: no ventilation, prone to residual sour taste
5、 Key points of construction
Substrate treatment: clean and dry, free of oil and dust, rough surface can be coated as a base layer
Glue application: The glue gun evenly applies glue, with a full and bubble free interface
Repair: Use a scraper to level within 10 minutes and avoid repeated contact
Curing: Do not apply force or come into contact with water within 24 hours; Fully cured for 7 days
Ventilation: Open windows during construction to dissipate vinegar and sour taste
