Weather resistant silicone sealant (often referred to as “weather resistant sealant”) is a neutral and elastic sealing material with polysiloxane as the main component. It is specially designed for outdoor long-term exposure environment. Its core function is waterproof, sealing, anti-aging, and does not bear structural load.
1、 Core components and curing principle
Subject: Polydimethylsiloxane (silicone rubber), which determines its core characteristics of weather resistance, temperature resistance, and elasticity.
Curing method: single component, neutral curing. Exposure to moisture in the air solidifies from the surface to the inside, forming an elastic rubber body.
Key additives:
Gas phase silica: thickening, anti sagging.
UV absorbers/antioxidants: enhance aging resistance.
Crosslinking agent and catalyst: control the curing speed.
2、 Main performance characteristics
Top level weather resistance: resistant to UV rays, ozone, wind and rain, acid rain, and will not crack or powder for 20 years outdoors.
Wide temperature range elasticity: Maintain elasticity from -50 ℃ to+200 ℃, without brittle cracking or flowing.
High displacement capability: ± 25%~± 50%, suitable for thermal expansion and contraction, and foundation settlement.
Neutral and environmentally friendly: No corrosion or pollution to glass, metal, and stone.
Hydrophobic and leak proof: The surface is water repellent, with excellent water and air tightness.
3、 Main purpose (primarily for construction)
Curtain wall sealing: Glass/aluminum/stone curtain wall peripheral joints (non structural).
Door and window installation: Aluminum alloy windows/plastic steel windows and wall joint filling for waterproofing.
Roof/Exterior Wall: Metal roof, sunroom, concrete exterior wall expansion joint sealing.
Other: Stone dry hanging, kitchen and bathroom outdoor, pipeline interface, equipment shell weather resistant sealing.
